Today we are comparing and evaluating the search effectiveness of a Meta search engine and a subject directory. I doing the comparison and evaluation of Mamma search engine, which is a Meta search engine and Yahoo! subject directory. We are also doing a WIKI collaborative work and include site feeds into personal blogs and blog reflections


When using Meta search engine, only the sites containing my search query are found as Meta search engine transmits the serach simultaneously to several search engines and their databases of web pages. This lessens the searching time for relevant web pages. Yahoo! subject directory are more specific as the sites are maintained by information specialists who selected web pages based on predefined criteria.

By adding site feeds to my blog, I feel that I will be smarter as I am able to read about others' research without doing it myself. Haha :D These site feeds enable me to view their research blogs and reflections at ease.

By collaborating on WIKI, I not only get to know more about those who are doing a similar topic as me, I also get to share my research findings with them. I was also able to read their research. This lessened my time of going through the thousands of web pages found on several search engines.
