my metaphor: Don't be blind; Open your eyes to the Internet.
It means, don't just know how to use the Internet, but learn more about the Internet to get the best out of it.

From my research, I managed to know the factors leading to the eating disorders in teenagers and impact of it and also how these teenagers manage to recover from their ordeals of suffering from eating disorders. Initially I thought that those suffering from eating disorders are insane, as they are not enjoying life's goodness. However, after I did my research, I understood their position and I take my words back. These teenagers may suffer from eating disorders due to low self esteem. Some of the impacts of it are weight loss and dry skin. When they have to go for theraphy, they simply talk to their counsellars who help them regain back into a healthy shape.

For lesson today, we learnt about the usage of Twitter. With Twitter, I managed to know a brief description of my classmates' research topics. They tweeted about their findings and I asked them questions about it and they replied. It was like, a never-ending learning experience for me. Besides that, I tweeted about my research findings and a few of them questioned me about it and I managed to answer their questions, and i was able to get to share my research findings with my classmates who are doing the same research topic as me. However, I still prefer blogging using Blogspot. At Blogspot, I am able to showcase my lengthy but relevant research findings instead of just giving brief description of it on Twitter. At this rate, my classmates wouldn't have to keep on asking me quetions as they might find the answers there.

I am able to use Blogspot and Twitter for research purposes by posting research findings and asking people for their ideas and opinions. I can even post a question and people would reply to my question with their answers. Example, I can post a question like, 'How are people able to suffer from anorexia nervosa?' and publish it to my Blog or Twitter and people are able to reply via Twitter or comments on my blog to give me their views. At this rate, I would have a clearer idea on my question.

For the lesson today, we are supposed to do a research on our dream holiday, and my dream holiday is New Zealand.
I had been there a couple of years ago but I would love to go there again.
This is Auckland City in the day.

and this is Auckland City in the evening.

amazing isn't it?

this is a photo of the mountains in New Zealand.

and this shows the remarkables of the mountains.

and this is a photo of a duck that you'll see there.

it's like the kind of ducks that you see from Tom and Jerry's cartoon show.

The evaluation criteria that I used to evaluate are accessibility and presentation and arrangement.

The websites that I went to are easily accessed. They do not require any log-ins or registration. Besides that, I am able to view the information for free. This makes my research easier without any frills.

For presentation and arrangement, the websites are arranged neatly. The information and photos are not all over the place and it can be read at ease. There's also a search query, enabling me to search for anything that I am unsure of.

The reason why I picked New Zealand is because of it's scenery. I am interested in landscape photography and of all the countries that I've went to before, New Zealand attracted me the most. I went there when I was in Primary 6 and with only a digital camera, I wasn't able to get nice shots of the scenery there. Now that I own a DSLR, I am dying to go there again to get awesome shots of the amazing sceneries there.

The criteria that I used to evaluate Stomp are coverage and currency. Stomp.com provides a variety of information being contributed by users of the website. It may be news or even gossips. It maybe about a couple snogging each other on the public transports or even about an accident that happened on the roads. It's a channel where everyone is able to share with the community about what they experienced and are able to get their views on it as well.

For currency, Stomp.com is always updated. This allows the users of the website to know the on-going happenings in Singapore. Therefore, no one would be outdated.

By doing collaborative work on Wiki, I am able to share my views with others and get their opinions on it as well.

I learnt that with a group effort completing a task, we are able to gain more information with varied findings. The most challenging experience was to get everyone to contribute to the research. My advice to next batch of wiki groups is to take the effort to know your classmates because you won't know who you would be working with, and it would be weird working with people that you don't know, and most importantly, get their contact details.

I would use for my research for my Diploma. From using Wiki, I was able to know a lot of information from those doing the same topic as me. For my future research findings, I would use Wiki so that I will be able to gain the same or even better experience when doing my research.

For today's lesson, we had to use invisible web for our research. I think that the invisible web is much more effective than other search engines, meta search or subject directories. I used TP's Digital Library portal. The search findings were more relevant as compared to those of search engines, meta search and subject directories. This is due to the fact that invisible web contains
information that these websites (search engines, meta search and subject directories) do not, due to technical limitations.

I would use the invisible web for research in my diploma as most the information found by the invisible web is reliable and relevant. However, I would not rely on the invisible web only. I would use search engines, meta search and subject directories for my research as well. This is so that I would be able to retrieve more information regrading my research topic from the Internet.

Besides using the invisible web for our research, we had to share our research findings on Wiki. Through this collaborative work, I was able to gain more information from other students who are doing the same research topic as me. This allows my research findings to be more varied.

This week is e-learning week, and we had to participate in an oline discussion forum on OLE regrading how Internet has enriched our social and academic life and if we think Internet resources can replace the existing hard-copy materials available in the world today.

I felt that I was able to post my comments freely on OLE. I thought that it was my own opinions and I should not bother with the negative remarks that I might get. I prefer face-to-face- in-class discussions as compared to online discussions. It is due to the fact that face-to-face-in-class discussions allows me to get the my classmates' opinions asap unlike on online discussions which tends to lag. I find this online activity meaningful as I found out how an online discussion actually works.
